- Chavura – a group of individuals, usually linked to a common focus
- Chazzan – a cantor or formal service leader
- Chazzanut – a cantorial rendition
- Chizzuk – strengthening or empowerment
- Daven – pray
- Kahal – audience
- Minyan – a quorum of ten adults needed to fulfil certain parts of a service
- Nigun / Niggun – a wordless melody, though sometimes used synonymously with any melody
- Nussach – the liturgical tradition (e.g., Ashkenaz, Sepharad, Edot Mizrach etc.), and also referrs to the standard foundational tune for any given piece of liturgy
- Sha”tz – abbreviation of Shaliach Tzibur
- Shaliach Tzibur – a service leader (lit. emmisary of the congregation)
- Tefillah – prayer service or individual liturgical piece
